The
Audio 2000's DUAL-Channel UHF Wireless Microphone System works great in an auditorium setting. The DUAL-MIC system sells reasonably for under $100.00 and the unit comes complete with everything you will need to get started whether you are using it to connect to a professional mixer or just into your typical audio system so you can relax and get right to using it. It comes with a hard plastic molded carrying case with Audio 2000's logo embossed into the top that includes foam padding on the inside with cutouts that are fitted for the equipment to fit snugly within for holding your equipment secure during transport from one location to another and protecting it from damage. The kit contains two handheld AWX6070 Hand Held Transmitters (Microphones), one AWR6074U Receiver, a 3ft (1m) 1/4" male to 1/4" male Audio Cable, an FD41UD-14-500 AC/DC Adaptor with an Input voltage of 120vac and an Output voltage of 14vdc@500mA, 4pcs 1.5vdc "AA" batteries, and an instruction pamphlet. (English only). Most of the casings are made of plastic, but you would have to pay a whole lot more for metal casing enclosures, removable antennas, etc... The AWM6074U System is Warranted by H&F Technologies, Inc. for a period of 1yr.
The AWM6074U system uses an Ultra High Frequency (UHF) signal operating in the 570Mhz to 696Mhz band. It is designed strictly for "Line of Sight" usage without obstructions for best operation and has a maximum range of 300ft Outdoors and 150ft Indoors, although the manual specifies that the servicing area of the system is 100ft.
The AWR6074U is a UHF Band Receiver with a receiving sensitivity of -105dBm and has a Signal to Noise Ratio of 80dB with less than 1% of Total Harmonic Distortion. The antennas appear to be dual standard 3dB antennas which are permanently attached to the unit. The AWX6070 Microphones are battery operated UHF Transmitters producing a maximum power output of 30mW from 2pcs of 1.5v "AA" batteries, having a power consumption of <40mA giving it approximately 2 - 2 1/2hrs of operation. The AWM6074U System components together sport a frequency stability of +/- 0.005%, a Signal to Noise Ratio >80dB, a maximum Sound Pressure Level of 110dB, and a Total Harmonic Distortion of <1%. That's pretty good specifications. The AWM6074U System has Dual A/B Audio Level Adjustment knobs for the hand held Microphones, RF Signal indicators used for providing a visual indication of the individual Radio Frequency and Signal Levels received from each of the Microphone Transmitters corresponding to each channel as well as the group and channel being used, and Audio Frequency Signal Level indicators used for providing a visual indication of the Audio levels coming from each Microphone also corresponding to its channel (The RF frequencies are not adjustable). The System has two Balanced Microphone Outputs (XLRM Jacks) for individually controlled output, and a single 1/4" Unbalanced Microphone Output for a "Mixed" output to your amplification equipment. The Microphone sports a 3 position ON/OFF/MUTE switch with a Red Low Power LED to indicate when the batteries are low and in need of changing.
The setup of the system is pretty easy and straight forward.
1. Remove unit from the carrying case.
2. Connect the power Adaptor and plug into an AC outlet and then to the Receiver unit.
3. Position the Antennas in a vertical position.
4. Connect either the Balanced or Non-balanced outputs to the Microphone inputs of your sound system.
5. Turn the Audio Adjustment Level knobs full Counterclockwise.
6. Install two batteries in each of the Microphone Transmitters.
7. Turn the power switch of the AWX6070 Microphones to the first "Mute" position.
8. Turn the power on to the AWR6074U Receiver with the power switch on the front panel.
9. Turn the volume slider down on the mixer channel you are attaching to.
10.Turn the Audio Adjust knobs on the Receiver Clockwise to the 12-O'Clock position.
11. Push the Microphone switch to the "On" position and adjust your mixer levels to a comfortable level.
I hooked the AWM6074U System up to our mixer and tested the setup. The audio was crisp and clear without any distortion of any kind. The mute functions worked like a charm and I was able to go into the extremities of our 50ft x 100ft building using the remote microphones without any hesitation, skip, or loss of audio nor RF signal. Not bad for what I would consider an Entry Level Dual Chnl Microphone System. I am very pleased with the quality and cost for this setup and would recommend it to anyone needing a wireless microphone system that will easily fit your budget.
